Minnesota Ag Group, Inc., an Employee-Owned complex of equipment dealerships selling Case IH and New Holland branded machinery, is seeking a skilled Precision Farming Specialist to join our growing team. With 25+ years building our business across four main Minnesota locations, we’re looking for technology-focused professionals to work with cutting-edge agricultural precision systems maximizing efficiency for farming operations of all sizes.
Position Overview – Precision Farming Specialist
The Precision Farming Specialist works closely with new and existing precision agriculture technologies to maximize operational efficiency for farms of all sizes. This role combines technical expertise, customer training, equipment installation, and ongoing support for advanced farming technology systems including auto guidance, GPS navigation, precision planting, data management, and connectivity solutions.
Reporting to both Location Manager and Precision Farming Director, this position serves as primary technical resource for precision farming technology across all Minnesota Ag Group locations and customer base.
Key Job Duties & Core Responsibilities
Multi-Brand Technology Support:
- Support comprehensive portfolio of Precision Technology Brands offered by MN Ag Group including Case IH AFS (Advanced Farming Systems), New Holland PLM (Precision Land Management), AgLeader Technology, Precision Planting systems, Raven Applied Technology, and Trimble Ag solutions
- Maintain expertise across diverse technology platforms ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance
- Stay current with product updates, new releases, and technological advancements across all supported brands
Customer Training & Onboarding:
- Teach customers to effectively utilize new precision farming technology following equipment purchases
- Conduct comprehensive onboarding sessions introducing customers to display systems, connectivity features, Field Ops software, data management platforms, and precision agriculture tools
- Provide hands-on training at customer farms ensuring confidence and competence in technology operation
- Develop customized training programs addressing specific customer needs and operational requirements
Departmental Support & Collaboration:
- Provide sales department with technical support regarding precision farming capabilities, system specifications, and technology integration options
- Support service department with diagnostic assistance, technical guidance, and troubleshooting for precision equipment issues
- Collaborate with parts department ensuring proper component identification, ordering, and inventory for precision technology repairs and upgrades
Customer Service & Problem Resolution:
- Address all customer needs, concerns, and complaints related to auto guidance systems, GPS accuracy, connectivity issues, and machine technology performance
- Provide responsive technical support via phone, email, remote assistance, and on-site visits
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues systematically ensuring timely resolution and customer satisfaction
Equipment Diagnosis, Repair & Updates:
- Diagnose precision farming equipment malfunctions using diagnostic tools, software, and technical expertise
- Repair precision technology components including displays, GPS receivers, controllers, and sensor systems
- Perform software updates, firmware upgrades, and system calibrations ensuring optimal performance
- Maintain detailed service records documenting repairs, updates, and system modifications
Relationship Management & Ongoing Support:
- Maintain strong customer relationships through regular communication, proactive outreach, and responsive service
- Provide software updates, feature enhancements, and product information keeping customers informed of technology advancements
- Offer general information regarding equipment use, best practices, and optimization strategies
- Conduct seasonal check-ins ensuring technology readiness for planting and harvest operations
Professional Development & Certification:
- Complete required annual training courses maintaining certifications across supported technology brands
- Participate in manufacturer training programs, webinars, and technical seminars
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant materials, technical bulletins, and industry developments
- Pursue advanced certifications and specialized training enhancing technical capabilities
Upgrade Quoting & Sales Support:
- Quote technology upgrades for existing obsolete equipment providing modernization pathways
- Provide multiple solution options addressing customer needs and budget considerations
- Quote CNH (Case IH and New Holland) branded solutions as first choice supporting primary product lines
- Prepare detailed proposals including equipment specifications, pricing, and implementation timelines
Hardware Installation & Project Management:
- Install hardware upgrades to agricultural equipment including GPS receivers, displays, controllers, and sensors
- Track installation time and resources utilized ensuring accurate billing and project management
- Coordinate installation schedules minimizing customer downtime during critical farming periods
- Perform post-installation testing and calibration ensuring proper system operation
Required Qualifications & Skills
