Quality Technologist Responsibilities
As our new quality technologist, your daily responsibilities will encompass:
Quality Management & Compliance:
- Renew supplier audit documentation ensuring full compliance with food safety standards
- Navigate internal quality systems including FBSS, Docuware, and ADW platforms
- Participate actively in HACCP meetings and quality assessments
- Execute continuous improvement projects within Quality Management Systems
Supplier Relations & Approvals:
- Approve new food and feed suppliers following rigorous evaluation processes
- Conduct comprehensive supplier risk assessments
- Handle specialized animal feed and organic certifications
- Manage toll manufacturing order approvals and resolve operational queries
Technical Support & Customer Service:
- Respond to complex technical queries from customers and suppliers
- Provide expert guidance on ingredient specifications and food safety requirements
- Review and resolve blocked inventory issues
- Support quality-related problem-solving initiatives
Essential Quality Technologist Qualifications
Technical Expertise Required:
- Comprehensive understanding of food industry quality standards including HACCP protocols
- BRC Food certification knowledge or Agents and Brokers experience
- Minimum 3+ years experience in quality, technical, or R&D roles within food, ingredients, or supplements industries
- Proven experience in supplier auditing and non-conformance resolution
Beneficial Qualifications:
- FAMI-QS (animal feed) certification knowledge
- Organic/BIO, Kosher, Halal certification understanding
- IFS Logistics experience
- Retail specification systems experience (QADEX, Hamilton Grant)
Technical Skills:
- Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency, particularly Excel
- Understanding of current food legislation and labeling requirements
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet critical deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
